Beauty in the EYE of the beholder

Brown eyed girl.

There was a phase that I went through in high school, when I hated my jet black hair. So, like any other rebellious 16 year old---I got it platinum bleached highlights. It seriously was a drastic change. There were literally pieces of platinum blonde streaks all over my head. I remember everyone gasping when I walked into second period Spanish class. I believe the words, "holy shit" was yelled multiple times across the room. It didn't look bad or anything, after a while it turned this skanky brass color but by then I was over it. It's nice to have a change to your look once in a while. I've always been jealous of normal white girls that can dye their hair any color of the rainbow. Jet black Asian hair, is a force to be reckoned with. I blame it on the DNA our mothers gave us, to not defy them (cursing under my breath)...

My eye color is damn near black. I have super dark chocolate brown eyes, and I'm bored with them. My eye sight I feel has gotten a wee worse, even though my optometrist says they're 20/20. MY ASS. That is sooooo not right, so I'm going to a different doctor. I have like three pairs of reading glasses already, so I'm looking into getting colored contacts. The last appointment I went to, they discovered I had astigmatism and a pair of desert dry eyes. We'll see how this pans out.

I had green colored contacts in the past, and although I thought they were gorgeous it apparently freaked some people out. Like I said my eyes are pretty dark, so I should probably get color blends this time. Your eyes make such a big difference and such a subtle one at the same time. Isn't it crazy how we're able to just pick out what color we want our eyes to be now?! I've always been a fan of light blue eyes and dark hair. Something very sexy and exotic about it. What's not to love?!

ARE THESE TOO SUBTLE?
Ok! So I played around a bit on the Freshlook website, and I decided on gray. I think that it brings a subtle pop to my face, similar to the green ones I got. Dark brown eyes are okay sometimes, but a girls gotta have a bit of change to keep herself lookin' fresh---am I right ladies? This will be my next investment. I probably won't wear them everyday, but I'd like to have the option to wear them when I want to.

On another note, my amazing cousin Han is the skin guru. My skin has never been bad (thank you Asian genes!) but I've developed sun spots. You can see two of them in the pic above. They're right in a vertical row. I have other ones, but these drives me crazy. They've been magically appearing on my face like a freaking connect the dots game. When I was little I transformed into a fish during the summer. Literally spending from 8:00am to 6:00pm in the pool. We loved to swim! So much that my sister and I could be mistaken for being little Mexican children, because we were so tan. Although those fun summers in the sun were great, my skin is paying for it now! Han suggested I try the Clinique even better dark spot corrector. I've seen minimal results.  They are getting lighter, but not enough for me. Mom suggested I get them lasered off---which I'm using as a last resort. Han is going to send me some magic stuff for my face, and I hope it works! Because you know...I can't be looking all spotty for her wedding in October!

Speaking of which, I'm super excited for! Han is the first one to get married out of the musketeers. My cousins and I are so close, we are more like sisters than anything else. Even though we all don't talk as much as we should, when we get together it's like time hasn't passed at all. We're still the same girls playing "Sweet Valley High" board games and giggling over boys. I'm hoping to be at my weight goal by the time the wedding rolls around. I have exactly eight months to look my finest! I'm super excited!

I'm off to play more with my eye colors. What do you think of the gray? Too subtle?

The girl with the protein shake

Hmm...wonder what kind of book that would make!

Tonight I met up with Rhonda before I go back to work tomorrow...well today lol. It was a really nice visit! She comea home from North Carolina for the holidays, and we always make a point to see each other. Usually we go for a bite to eat, just dessert or a movie. Tonight we did dinner and a movie. We went to Lost Dog for dinner, yum! While we were there, we got to catch up some with Robb and do a gift exchange I love Harry Potter, so much that I've gone to see the past six movies ag midnight on opening night! Crazy, I know but it has been worth it! She got me the coolest gifts! A HP tote bag and my very own Hogwarts acceptance letter! I almost died!

We chit chatted over our yummy dinners. I got ravioli and she got a grilled chicken sandwich. Rhonda just has gastric bypass surgery in August, so this is the first time I've seen her. 71lbs lighter and looking fabulous! I have to admit, I was nervous about eating dinner with her. She can't eat much, so I didn't want to sit and stuff my face and her not have anything to do. I should have known that this wouldn't be an issue with her at all, but in the past it was really fun and nice to savor and enjoy food together. I'm greatful she understands and knows first hand what I'm going through!

We went to the sneak preview of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo", and it was really a great flick. But as luck would have it, we were surrounded by complete idiots! I'm just glad the movie was as good as the book and European version--or else there would have been BIG words with hmm let's see the couple kciking our seats or the rude guy in front of us that told us basically to STFU lol.

Anyway we had a really super visit. I of course noticed her weight loss right away, she really does look awesome. This is the first time I've seen her this small, I can't believe it! Rhonda did point out the changes in my face and my stomach pouch looks like it's deflating. Thank God! I hate my pouch and my muffin too! Hopinv to say bye bye to them real soon! Weigh in is today with Docot C! Wish me luck!

Hump day!

I love sleeping in.

Yay! I feel fully rested and ready to go! Today I went to my appointment as usual. Stocked up on some more protein bars and all that good stuff. The protein bars are super good, actually only select ones are to my liking but for the most part tolerable. I made the mistake of buying "graham cracker" tasting ones. Yep, didn't taste anything like them. The strawberry cheesecake ones aren't bad, but they are a bit too sweet for me. I'm sticking to my PBJ and cinnamon toast crunchies.

I got to meet up with Dianna today for a visit. I was so happy to see her! I feel like I haven't in a year! This week working was really hard without her. Not hard, but not fun I should say. Marissa was feeling better, so today we decided to venture out. Made our usual shopping trip to Target. We spent like over an hour there, catching up and browsing. We headed to the mall after. I hardly go to our local mall, because the stores aren't that great. Besides Macy's, Pac Sun and Express I really don't shop anywhere else. I went over to Macy's and picked up some Clinique even better dark spot corrector. I have had sun spots popping up on my face for the past couple of years, and I want to try to lighten them or get rid of them.

Clinique Even Better Dark Spot Corrector

I'm not desperate enough to have them lasered off, but they're just something on my face that I don't like. I doubt anyone else would even care, but they're not me. We all have things about ourselves we don't like, thus we try to change them. I'm all for trying to see if this product works! The woman at the counter told me that it's not a miracle worker, but with consistent use it has been proven to lighten them by 58%. I'm very appreciative that she was honest, I researched the hell out of it before I made my purchase and most consumers said the same thing. It's something that takes a few weeks to see progress. I'm going to take pictures and post them for progress comparison.

I research everything. I like to know the ins and outs of anything I'm spending time or money on. When I chose to enroll with Dr. Cusimano's program you bet I spent months researching. The advantage to her was that I actually spoke to people who had done the program. Sometimes online it's hard. I never know if these are actually real testimonials or just the company bullshitting. Very sketchy.

I've also been looking into getting my teeth whitened. I really love my dentist office, they have me on this whitening for life program. I had the molds  made for my teeth and they give me gel each time I go in for a cleaning. What I'm REALLY looking for, is a dentist that will do in office whitening. The trays do work, but I'm just really super impatient. I want instant gratification damn it--I'm an American after all hello! No luck in that department, so I just opted to try the Crest White Strips again. Hopefully between that and my gel it'll get the job done.

Some of you may be thinking I'm spending too much on my appearance. I disagree. Don't we all buy things for ourselves to improve our appearance or the way we feel? I'm guilty of impulse buying, but for the most part I think for a long time about what I want. Like I said before, I don't see a point in spending money on clothes right now---so I'm opting to spend on other things. Other things that are practical, and don't involve bad food!
